Random Story of the Day [28th October 2009]
Wednesday, October 28, 2009
9:59 PM
The day begins, we walk to school. Boring. Henta arrives in class, wow. Shocking.
Leoj, the superstar in our class, the tallest, biggest, largest and almost the hairiest, arrives in his specially-made limousine, specially-made because no other car can fit him. Wearing his awesome sunglasses that somehow spell "Leoj", he and his classmates walk down to the terraces. Wushu Time! Hot, stuffy students arrive in throngs, none taller than Leoj.
Grassoat meets a dude who is searching for him - the great Leoj. We give him directions. "You can never miss him." "Trust me, when he comes, he comes." Amazingly, with hints as vague as these, he still manages to find him. What can you expect? His arrival blinds Hwa Chong Institution with pure awesomeness. The fat Chinese wushu man is completely reduced to doing ridiculous actions that make the baboon do along. The rest. They stare at Leoj. BUT even stars have weaknesses. In the hot sun with his heavy coat and AWESOME sunglasses, anyone, even him, will get a heatstroke. His body fights on. His mind collapses.
Goodnight Leoj. And he faints again.

Clarification: Operation Sook Ching
Sunday, October 25, 2009
7:43 PM
Please do not assume.
If you're still interested in Singapore History after the EOY, here is a short write-up about Sook Ching:
Operation Sook Ching meaning "to purge" or "eliminate" was a massive Japanese exercise to ferret the local Chinese community for anti-Japanese elements, conducted by the 25th Army beginning on 18 February 1942 and resulting in the massacre of thousands of local Chinese.
Description The Sino-Japanese War of 1937 had generated Japanese hostility against the Chinese. During that time, the local Chinese community in Singapore had been active in providing support to their homeland including boycotting purchase of Japanese goods. With the invasion of Singapore in February 1942, many Chinese activists joined the underground anti-Japanese movement. To aggravate matters, most of the officers of the 25th Army that invaded Singapore were veterans of the Sino-Japanese War. With the 25th Army weakened by the Malayan campaign, General Yamashita ordered on 18 February 1942 for notices to be posted, recalling Chinese men between the ages of 18 to 50 to congregate at concentration centres. The island was divided into four sections under the charge of the various divisions of the 25th Army who then garrisoned the Chinese population. Official figures record up to 6,000 victims but unofficial figures range between 25,000 to 50,000.
Massacre sites Ponggol Beach. Changi Beach/ Changi Spit Beach: Victims from Bukit Timah/Stevens Road (Sook Ching point). Changi Road 8 ms 300 acre plantation (Samba Ikat village): 250 victims from Changi 8 ms (Sook Ching point). Hougang 8 ms: Six lorry loads of people were said to have been massacred here. Katong 7 ms: 20 trenches were dug. Beach opposite 27 Amber Road: Two lorry loads of people were said to have been massacred here; the site is now a car park. Tanah Merah Beach/Tanah Merah Besar Beach: 242 victims taken from Jalan Besar Sook Ching point; currently a runway of Changi airport. Thomson Road: Sime Road, near golf course and the villages in the vicinity. Katong, East Coast Road: 732 victims from Telok Kurau School (Sook Ching point). Siglap area, Bedok South Avenue/Bedok South Road: Previously known as Jalan Puay Poon. Blakang Mati Beach, off the Sentosa Golf Course: Many bodies of the massacred victims were washed ashore and were buried.

Random Story of the Day [25th October 2009]
5:58 PM
A crowd had formed, surrounding the long figure lying on the ground, unconscious. The main advertiser for HL Milk comes along and shouts, "Oi, TMD. 躺在那边干什么?" before walking away. The main advertiser for Dutch Lady squeezes through the crowd and asks curiously, "Eh, what happened huh?" "Don't so kapoh lah," retorted Hanky. Suddenly, the lying figure wakes up in a jolt and whined: "I love you so much! Don't leave me, Charles!" Then he looked around at the crowd, looking at him with a blank stare. "Whoops."
Word spreads as quickly as a fire. Soon, you can even hear Zachffles whispering to Pathos, pointing at the long, but now standing tall, figure, "He's a guy, with the middle vowel changed to an A!" Pathos scratches his neck and questioned, "Why not a B? I thought he likes bees." Zachffles replied bluntly, "That's Hanky, you dumb-S." Pathos flares up, "Well, isn't Hanky the one who threw away my pencil case?" Zachffles corrected, "That's Alston." Pathos thought, "Hanky isn't that bad a girl after all."
The other gang in class discusses this topic as if it was the Top Hit Song of 2009. ZHY exclaimed enthusiastically, "Woah, latest album by that guy: I'm a Gay!" Zan remarked, "NAW good lah. Confirm lose money one." Giggles randomly assured, "He's so tall and hunky. Too bad he works in a pet shop."
Paper is wrap cannot fire one. Soon, the protagonist hears about it and angrily threatened, "I'll steal your mouse traps if you continue to spread the rumour!" This did not affect much, since it was known that stealing mouse traps isn't his forte.
Then came the last straw. It was overheard that even his best friend from SJI knew about it, but kept it a secret from him. After confronting him, they both broke up. Even the hamsters in the pet shop knew. The main character could no longer stand it. He wanted to put a stop to this.
And the easiest way was to faint.
"Guys, let's go. He's sleeping again, so let's crowd around and try to get more hints about Charles when he wakes up. Everyone, crowd around Leoj!"

An Impartial Post
2:49 PM
After all the saga, including Jarrett-Yihan Dutch Treaty for the contributions of the CMC and the other students in the class (non-CMC is to be abolished), here is a final post to address all the problems that have appeared throughout the year. Please take out some time to read this post thoroughly. Any disagreement matters are open for debate. (Pardon the sentence structure and usage of words, I rushed this.)
Ethan Ethan is just another student in our class. As a class, we should not make fun of each other. We stand as one. Like what Yihan says, 34 hearts beating as one. Should we set him aside and enjoy as we see Ethan suffer? If I'm not wrong, Nigel had made a similar post (but was deleted, or was it Yihan?) There's streaming. If there's any chance during the rest of the year or next year to bond with one another, I really hope Ethan can join in. Everyone has negative points, but some people have more negative points than others. (quoted and modified from Animal Farm)
Han Long I know he gets made fun of due to his size, or his irritating personality (who keeps asking for History notes). We must know that eating alot isn't a fault. Nor is it faults. Same for the above point: One class united. Who knows, he could save you someday. So, Yihan, stop disturbing him.
Contributions by the Republic Everyone would have at least contributed to the republic in one way or another. Regardless of whether it's posting, advertising or even reading, everyone helped to keep the blog alive. (Zan tagging) Of course, we must admit that the CMC could have done more and better, but that will only work if the CMCs work together. Now, it's down to only Yihan, contributing much to our society. Hua Ying contributes in "Guys, let's go", Ethan contributes in collecting money. This can be confirmed by factual knowledge. It is known that Ethan actually does his job. The facility sects do their job some times; for the rest, I ain't sure. So, we shall not divide the class. After all, we're all at the same age and height (most of us). What's different? (Okay, I admit, lots.)
Geography and Subjects Saga In fact, SODA never really did exist. It was just a one-sided association that really did not stir up much in the class. Of course, Hua Ying was angered due to his name appearing without his consent (which is, I admit, wrong) and his parents even interfered. We can see that some people take things too seriously. Therefore, I apologise on behalf of the class to Hua Ying and whoever who was affected by this saga. I know some people do not like Geography and have nicknamed it "GeoShit", which caused troubles. No one can force a student to like a subject. Of course, without knowing the exact topics to study for the T3 Test and the EOY Exam, it is natural that the students grew a disliking for the subject. (Including the absence of PPTs in the iVLE although it was promised) Now, the IRA has tried to help everyone prepare for their examinations with the introduction of Geography Notes for everyone to revise and do better and Geography Discussion for anyone to clarify their doubts. However, the discussion chat was abused by some, which was used to vent angers instead of its purpose. Of course, "Second Year of the Strikes" was a History topic, and that just ties in with "Integrated Humanities", merging Geography and History together. Same goes for the Sook Ching, which was an operation carried out during the Japanese Occupation which cleanse the community.
A little laughter gives us a spice of life. Of course, not to an extent. Jokes should not be treated seriously. As learnt in the case study of DI ZI GUI, we must be responsible for what we do.
Make our teachers proud (especially Ms. TanSC) by supporting the DI ZI GUI movement. And with the last sentence, I conclude: Discussions usually solve problems. Rashness just contributes to more problems.

Random Story Of The Day
Saturday, October 24, 2009
4:53 PM
There were two classmates who always liked to quarrel. One was called Hanky. The other was known as Henta. Hanky liked to think of himself as a very manly boy, though he only excelled well in studies instead of sports. Henta was pretty much a girl. He once believed that he was a boy, but soon, time changed all that.
It was another typical day in school, and Henta and Hanky were fighting once again.
Hanky: Henta, why is it that you love collecting money so much? Henta: Shuddup la. *Blinks eyes* Hanky: Your attitude really annoys me. Henta: Shuddup la *Blinks eyes* Hanky: Ah... I see why the class hates you so much. Henta: Shuddup la *Blinks eyes* Hanky: Stop it, girl. Henta: I am a boy! Hanky: (in a high pitched tone) Shuddup la *blinks eyes dramatically* Henta: Stop this insolence, you foul vermin! I believe I am the greater great. Hanky: Yeah right, I am the greater great.
It so happened that Leoj was nearby counting the number of hamsters he owed Grassoat. He had already lost count a number of times before and was even more irritated by the fact that Hanky and Henta were quarelling. So he decided to give Hanky and Henta an English punctuation problem to keep them occupied.
Leoj: Whoever solves this first, is the greater great. Put any type of punctuations in the sentence and write it down. Here's your sentence: Henta without her Hanky is nothing.
And of course Hanky came up with an answer quickly. His read:
Henta, without her Hanky, is nothing.
Surprisingly, Henta though upset with the fact she was referred to as a girl, came up with his answer spontaneously. His... I mean hers read:
Henta! Without her, Hanky is nothing.
Leoj looked from Hanky's answer to Henta's, then back to Hanky's again. He stared at the two students.
Then, he fainted.

NAW- Revised, reviewed, revived

5:41 PM
NAW, lamentably, has not been well-received by Acerians due to some reason, like people being unaware of this new publication or disliked such initiatives. This is an appeal to you to visit the new IRA publication- Newspaper-A-Week! (NAW!)
To ease racial tensions, I will post one that does not have such a great stand as the previous posts to the class, but is crucial and equally important.
Now, may I excuse you, but Joel, when the ikan will you give me the hamster you owe?
Feedback on CMC's and Non-CMC's performance and contributions
Wednesday, October 21, 2009
2:46 PM
Dear Acerians:
In order to gather information about the class's opinions and feelings towards the CMCs and the non-CMCs, I have set up a poll for you to complete. It is an invaluable tool for us to learn from our mistakes and make further improvements to the earlier initiatives. The number of people visiting the blog is subjected to the total number of votes - which appears to me that only a few knew about the existence of this class blog.
Final Poll
Tuesday, October 20, 2009
1:18 PM
Dear Acerians:
To allow us to understand your needs better, here is a poll you are encouraged to complete.
To help ease the rising discontent and conflict over the controvery of "Geography's Faults", I have come up with another publication (affiliated with The Distillation Melayu)- Newspaper-A-Week (NAW). Does it ring a bell? Yes, it sounds like Tan SC's favourite catch phrase- NO~!
I would like to note that NAW is employing. Currently, two more position- Assistant and Poet Editors- are available. If interested, please email me at theaphelionprotectorate@gmail.com .
Do note that some parts (if not most) of NAW's reports are fictitious.
Thank you.

Whoo!! I've finally finished the montage for that 7th Aug CIP Activity. Just uploaded it to youtube through our class youtube account. Enjoy, enjoy, and enjoy.
Basics. Done so far:
- Youtube Account Setup
To post class videos on youtube. ME (Multimedia Essentials) is part of our Infocomm Studies Module, hence with Windows Movie Maker, it's possible. Open for class usage.
- Photobucket and Picnik Account Setup
To edit images (works a bit like GIMP for those who know what it is). Open for class usage.
- Ecard Sending
For the Acerians' birthdays. (if you'd like the class to wish you happy bdae even if it's over) Just inform either Benedict or Yihan.
For any special / significant event/happening. (Someone down with high fever. Someone going for a very important competition. For competitions, inform Yihan in advance if you really want some good luck wishing (: )
- Facebook Account Setup
Many (if not all) of us have facebook. This makes communication easier to the class, even if some of you might not have any form of Instant Messaging that can connect to the class email account.
