The Distillation Melayu In Other News - Spelmer Joins Animal Farm Among the 5 major characters in Animal Farm, one of the members of the republic has recognize Spelmer to be one of them! George Orwell's permission has to be obtained first before this can be officially recorded in Animal Farm.
In Other News - Posters Give Spelmer A Good Laugh Seems like Spelmer doesn't like posters slanted.
In Other News - 9 More Days Counting down to the start of International Newspaper Online Festival. And the End-Of-You.
For the very last time, you owe me a hamster and you better return it fast before the EOYs.
72nd Post!
9:46 PM
The class blog has progressed. 72 posts and 2000+ hits!
Of course, we have to thank Yihan for his official funny posts which sparked the launch of The Distillation Melayu. Thank TC2 and Yamashita Stamford Percival for their first story on TDM which made it stay for the rest of the year (and maybe next year).
It has been a year. Lots of stuff happened. After the EOYs, a timeline would be drawn up as TDM shows you an overview (inserted with comedy) of the year 2009 in HCI 1A1, the Imperial Republic of Aphelion (IRA).
From Charles (no. 35) to Bernice (no. 34.5), From Grassoat to Dartebiota, From Li Lao Shi to Sook Ching to NO in Spelmer's class. At the end of the day, when we look back, we have a good laugh.
Ever wondered how Dartebiota came about? The saga between HL and DL? Hua Ying and Bernice's relationship? How Sook Ching got her name?
So many questions. To be answered by TDM after they get all the answers from the International Online Newspaper Festival from Oct 8-14.

NOT TO MOVE DOWN LOCKERS
5:49 PM
HCI|Singapore
Hey this is Jarrett reporting for TDM.
NEWS 1:
TDM edition:
There is a new law from Sook Ching - Lockers (storing food products or other miscellaneous stuff) are not supposed to be brought to the new shooting area to feed the will-be victims before they get shot to death. Anyone who opposes this law (regardless of the Japanese resource management or anyone else) will be sentenced to 3centuries of punishment.
Actual news:
Ms TanSC has said that we aren't supposed to "abuse the manpower" in our school and strongly states that we should just bring our stuff down, and not the lockers, since we aren't going back there again. Anyone who disagrees? 3mins of 立正. Be careful...

Apparently, our class took no notice of the loose fan.Actually, we did, it only malfunctioned sometimes. Anyways, the person crashed will be the teacher. (Ok, I'm just joking)
Class1A1 reputation: RUINED RUINED RUINED RUINED
We can tell Sook Ching to complain to the form teacher of Class 1I4 for the untidiness of our class, BUT we must fake fake clean up their class or else they will accuse us too. Anyways, Yihan... I mean, you think last time before we even moved to 1I4 our 1A1 classroom was DAMN clean??? I don't think so... And the lucky person who will be going to use Hetan's chair is so fortunate...
WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS.
Definitely not a song to listen to for 2obvious reasons: OSO and "The month of conflicts of 1A1" (as listed in the table above)

What?!
Fan loose and spoilt? We never had that problem before.
Those Sparkys must be joking. I feel like slapping their bloody faces.
'Spoilt And Loose Fan in 1A1'
12:48 AM
Read this. It's from the Safety Board of our SMB.
Re: Spoilt and loose fan in 1A1 From: TAN YEN CHIN JEREMY 22-09-09 (1) Date (dd/mm/yyyy): 22/9/09 (2) Description of observation or the possible threat: I am from 1I4 but as there is an injured person in 1A1, they had taken over our class. Therefore, my class is studying in 1A1.There is a loose fan at the front of 1A1. The fan might just drop and it is quite hot for the front row people. (3) Suggestion for overcoming potential threat: I would suggest someone to fix the fan. Thank you.
Your response: A B C D E
Has anyone ever realised that o.0? Seemed ok for us all these while. Anyways, let me tell you what I saw when I did a random inspection of our Headquarters, now occupied by 1I4.
- Since Jianda to Denzyl's tables are removed, 6 bottles are thrown onto the floor, 3 of them are not empty. - 1 table stacked upside down on our lockers, a few of their worksheets on our lockers - 1 table stacked upside down on the left sideboard (Benedict's side) - Tables in a mess (not arranged properly) - They are playing with basketballs in class, thereby contributing to the tables in a mess. - Chairs thrown everywhere like how their bottles are placed - Dirt and dirt all over the classroom
The only good thing? Markers are flourishing at the whiteboard. (Let's hope they leave them there.) But anw, they did us a favour of 'sacrificing their classroom.
Now back to the SMB Message. How likely is it that they were the ones who wrecked the fan? (most likely by basketball?) Wait till the other Aphelionites read that message X). Oya and btw, Sean has already requested for the Estate to move our lockers to the 1I4 room, where we will be able to use them.

Movie Headlines: Preparing for History Examinations
Sunday, September 20, 2009
3:13 PM
The Distillation Melayu's Senior Editor, Grassoat, will help everyone prepare for their History examinations by sharing some information about 3 topics.
This is a Non-CMC Initiative. The first step towards helping the members of the IRA to improve on their History grades is by sharing the History of Dartebiota. (though it won't be tested)
This is the next step.
History: The Sejarah Melayu The Malay spelling for 'Malay Annals'. Contains information about how Sung Utama (not Sung KK) saw this amazing island during his journey and decided to head over. There was a storm and the anxious boatman said only be throwing his crown overboard will they float safely. After throwing the crown, the storm subsided. When they landed to hunt for wild animals, Sang Utama saw something that he thought was a lion and decided to rename Tamasek to 'Singapura'.
The Sejarah Melayu also said that Singapura grew into a thriving trading centre. The Sejarah Melayu was also how The Distilation Melayu got its name.
History: Sook Ching and the Kempeitai The Kempeitai was the Japanese Military Police. They aimed to, by using force, maintain law and order in Singapore. They were mad at the Chinese for fighting against them in the war in China and treated them badly. All Chinese men who were between the age of 18 and 50 were sent to Kempeitai centres and Sook Ching was carried out. All those identified with Anti-Japanese elements were killed. Sook Ching was a terrible procession where random people would be eliminated to keep the country "clean", even though people rarely littered. Sook Ching was also known to have a love for Bukit Timah Hill.
History: Anglo-Dutch Treaty Signed on 17 March 1824, this treaty signed by the British and Dutch allowed: - British to keep Singapore - Dutch to get Bencoolen - British to give up Bencoolen - Dutch to give up Melaka - British to get Melaka The Anglo-Dutch Treaty resolved alot of conflicts between the two governments. The Anglo-Dutch Treaty was also signed to ensure that Dartebiota would be free from harassment until the 14 of October.
Movie Headlines: History of Dartebiota II
2:46 PM
Please enjoy this new book called History of Dartebiota - Chapter 2: A Broken Childhood, based on a true story by Khoo Yihan. (Trevor from 1 Bistrea is evil. And got a Facebook site about his evilness. Even Zan hates him.)
What's wrong with you people? I know how he feels, because I'm almost in the same state as him. Of what joy do you ever get for hatin someone who lives with a broken childhood? He does not hate. Even if he does, he does it for a reason and for a noble cause.
Perhaps you all are ignorant to his background. I'm not from your school. It's a shame to see Dunmanians doing this. Do you ever know why people always consider him as 'weird', 'oldish'..'evil'? All I need to say is you had better find out why. The fun you get out of this is never comparable to the pain he faces everyday. Thank You. Let's sign a peace treaty, like the 'Anglo-Dutch Treaty' on 17 March 1824. Let's not disturb Dartebiota until the editors of TDM come back from the function that lasts until Oct 14. Meanwhile, shift your attention to Leoj, the tallest guy in the class, and the first student to be featured in TDM. Peace.
Please enjoy this new book called History of Dartebiota - Chapter 1: A Bungla Saved My Life, based on a true story by Khoo Yihan. Warf. I have never imagined that this day would actually happen...and happen to me. I was on my way home from my AEP lessons (with all that dumb, bulky stuff) and my journey was as follows:
1. Bus from school to Little India Station (NEL)
2. MRT from Little India to Sengkang Station
3. LRT from Sengkang Station to home.
So as I was boarding the train in Little India Station, the train was packed (with indians lah wad else)...er...sry for the racism :) I'm not trying to be racist, really. Because as I ran from door to door (all of them were filled right full), I couldn't find any space for me to stand, taking into consideration the bulky things I had.
Then. Alas. Finally. A spot.
That was good. =)
So I ran right into that door, only to be surprised to see an Indian lady with her husband at the doorstep. As I tried to halt (so as not to collide into them), the doors started to close. Could not break in time...then I tripped - towards the door, as it was closing.
Then I felt a firm grip. Guess whose? Not the husband's, but that Indian lady's. I looked up at her, as the doors slammed shut in just mere centimetres from my face. Of course lah, I thanked her...but her response? She just frowned and said "Wad did I do-ooo? (in that indian accent) Thanking me-ee?"
Dun know wad to say; so I just nodded. But she still had that cusory look - and she was staring right into my face. I tried to smile, and finally she did. (Woof...took her that long?)
Nevertheless, I'd really want to thank her for that strong pull which might have saved me from the untimely clutches of __________. (You fill it in yourself; death? decapitation? nvm...) You know, maybe I should change my title to "a lady saved my life"...but since Zuo Min wants in catchy, so hu cares that much anyways.
But seriously man, if it weren't for her, I would be dead crap by now. You would probably see me lying in the hospital's ICU (not Ms Lam's term for ppl lyk me who are very weak in compos...and are still housed in the ICU...) and with tubes stuck all over my body...wrists, nostrils...
No matter how small a deed that was to that lady, it has within itself, a profound connotation level to me. And right now, a question struck me: Should I bring fewer things for my AEP lessons in my future, because not everyone has the same kind heart as that lady?
Seong Jin, becareful.
The Editorial Board

Presenting you with our editorial board for TDM!
Unstress Under Games - Puzzle 1b/10 (18/9/09)
What can you infer from the balance scale? (History skill revision (Non-CMC initiative): Inference skill)
Anyways, from this Flash, I, as Enjoy Raw Hesitator, urges our Trainee Editor and Senior Editor to use the HCI cum Aphelion cum IRA logo found on the top right hand corner as a "default template" in all our Flash. We are subdivided from HCI HS and then Aphelion consortium and then Class 1A1 '09 after all...
In Other News: Earlier Departure Due to personal matters, Dartebiota, Trainee Editor, will be leaving the function on Oct 12 and will join the conference on Oct 13 with the other editors, after a 2000-mile drive. You can expect news from Oct 14, alike other editors. They will be seeing a long dark ribbon unfolding on the highway, which is actually "Hetan crushed under a wheel".
This is AE, signing off.
The Distillation Melayu: Gearing Up
Thursday, September 17, 2009
11:06 PM
HWA CHONG INSTITUTION, SINGAPORE - This is Dartebiota, reporting as a trainee editor for the third time for The Distillation Melayu, The World's Most Serious Paper.
In today's news, here's a brief outline:
- Tiu Wee Yong, the Secretary of State, allowed The Republic to enjoy air-conditioning for one full schooling day.
- The two Operations, Operation First Overcome and Operation Second Overcome, all to be overcome.
- New Reader Interface (RI) for The Distillation Melayu - Flash Version
1. The Secretary's Unforseen Contribution
Tiu Wee Yong, the soft-spoken secretary has, due to his current physical condition - he broke his leg, finally planned to arrive at school with a new surprise for Acerians. We shall be enjoying a fully-air conditioned Aphelion Room, D203, for Friday, 18th September (also Hwa Jin's and Zhong Sheng's birthdays). This is because the Aphelion Room is situated nearer to Gate 3, where Wee Yong would most probably enter school from. This is to bring convenience to all, a blessing in disguise.
2. Operations of Honour
In the midst of what most would consider as a hectic Term 4, The Republic has launched two operations, Operation First Overcome and Operation Second Overcome, both introduced in Term 3. As of today, 17th September 2009, Operation First Overcome has been brought to yet another surprise extension. It is now extended by Mr R.Spelmer, on the Language Arts Prose Analysis Test, which will be executed on Tuesday, 22nd September 2009.
This is further extended by Ms TanSC (not her real name), to Thursday, 24th September 2009, for her Chinese 弟子规 and 成语 tests, both aimed at introducing more Chinese influence and cleansing anti-Chinese elements.
Operation Second Overcome, is currently on countdown, in the White Hole's side board, maintained by Republic Chairman Zhu Hua Ying.
3. TDM Flash gets a whole new look
After the immediate conclusion of Operation Second Overcome, currently 20 days and counting, The Distillation Melayu will promptly release its new Flash Design Reader Interface. This is meant to allow better reading quality, and will act as a complement to the new class logo. Source codes courtesy of Grassoat.
(: In other news
- With the latest conflict of Henta (not her real name), more Acerians are protesting against her acts. This is evidently displayed when in two days, Acerians wrecked her study table in succession. AEP, launched by Grassoat, seems to have taken strong effect on the Acerians.
- The Military Police, Tan Sook Ching, was spotted today at the school terraces as early as 7:10am. Kudos to those who have already guessed what she is doing: morning exercises. She was seen by the band members. When interviewed, Mark Wei Ziyun, a Sec1 Saxophonist from the band, commented: "She's the only moving thing on the school terrain. What the heck is she doing?!"
She was seen flailing her arms in the air repeatedly, clapping her hands rapidly, and drawing circles in the air with her arms. Perhaps Acerians could make it down to witness a first-hand account of this phenomenon that occurs at 7:10:32am.
- Regarded by the Republic as 'chubby and bubbly', Cheong Han Long has created 36 seconds of havoc during LHC (Low, but High Class) lessons. LHC has bluntly demanded that the Republic copy down the GeoTahi test topics by hand. Han Long has kindly requested for LHC to print out the 1-page long Test Topics list for the republic. Hear the reply? "*eyeballs widened* [pauses].... NO!"
- On 15th September, Tuesday, The Civil Defence Force commemorated Civil Defence Day by sounding an alarm at 12:05pm. Amusing as it seems, Mr R. Spelmer laughed when he figured who Acerians were refering to - the famous yells of Sook Ching; "NO!", "YA!" and "A BIT SLOW.".
This is Dartebiota, reporting for The Distillation Melayu.

3:54 PM
Hey all, Enjoy Raw Hesitator here. I am going on a trip with Senior Editor to the International Online Newspaper Festival and would probably be back after EOY (End-Of-You). Yeah but we'll still be crappin' round before Dartebiota or Hanky Hooi or Khoo Yihan steps in and niao us out. :] We will be busy and posting less in the blog, but do watch out for new updates!
All the best for End-Of-You!

Class Updates
Thursday, September 10, 2009
11:26 PM
Finally some decent posts after a whole lot of supposedly nonsense. Ok anyways, let's get to business.
I've made another addition to our browsing experience, and if you've read the post below, you'd know it's a class toolbar, although:
- DHS 1B'09 has also copied this idea and used it. (: - The webpage might not work all the time.
.. ...
More updates. After the EOYs, all Acerians can expect the following:
- All new versions of The Distillation Melayu. Perhaps another group in our class can form another newspaper, then the class blog would get much much more alive with two eNewspapers.
- Class Outings! Remember the poll 19 of us took. That'll be taken into consideration. - More class blog posts, and updates. - Hopefully some input from Enjoy Raw Hesitator (: and Grassoat should retire for a while.
In the meantime, keep your eyes on the EOY (Operation Second Overcome) Countdown, which can be found under: 1A1'09 ACERON Blog > 'Past' Tab. It's a month and under till we find ourselves in yet another situation similar to those of PSLE.

Class Toolbar
5:14 PM
Hi all.
I ripped this idea from Yue Jun's P6 Class Blog. Made a class toolbar, if you find it useful, download it from the administrator's account in your computer.
This would be useful, esp if you want quick access to the class homework through the blog. Else just download it to add colour to your web browsing experience.
Basics. Done so far:
- Youtube Account Setup
To post class videos on youtube. ME (Multimedia Essentials) is part of our Infocomm Studies Module, hence with Windows Movie Maker, it's possible. Open for class usage.
- Photobucket and Picnik Account Setup
To edit images (works a bit like GIMP for those who know what it is). Open for class usage.
- Ecard Sending
For the Acerians' birthdays. (if you'd like the class to wish you happy bdae even if it's over) Just inform either Benedict or Yihan.
For any special / significant event/happening. (Someone down with high fever. Someone going for a very important competition. For competitions, inform Yihan in advance if you really want some good luck wishing (: )
- Facebook Account Setup
Many (if not all) of us have facebook. This makes communication easier to the class, even if some of you might not have any form of Instant Messaging that can connect to the class email account.
- Class Toolbar
To bring much convenience to the net browsing experience for Acerians and the public alike.
- Class Blog and Class Logo, 2 versions
To identify ourselves as a class, as a republic.
The old version:
The new version:
For any other issues that you wish the CMC to attend to, please post it either in the cbox, or for more significance and priority, post it as a blog entry.

Other than that, make use of this unit. Part of the welfare of our republic.
