The Distillation Melayu's Senior Editor, Grassoat, will help everyone prepare for their History examinations by sharing some information about 3 topics.
This is a Non-CMC Initiative. The first step towards helping the members of the IRA to improve on their History grades is by sharing the History of Dartebiota. (though it won't be tested)
This is the next step.
History: The Sejarah MelayuThe Malay spelling for 'Malay Annals'. Contains information about how Sung Utama (not Sung KK) saw this amazing island during his journey and decided to head over. There was a storm and the anxious boatman said only be throwing his crown overboard will they float safely. After throwing the crown, the storm subsided. When they landed to hunt for wild animals, Sang Utama saw something that he thought was a lion and decided to rename Tamasek to 'Singapura'.
The Sejarah Melayu also said that Singapura grew into a thriving trading centre.
The Sejarah Melayu was also how
The Distilation Melayu got its name.
History: Sook Ching and the KempeitaiThe Kempeitai was the Japanese Military Police. They aimed to, by using force, maintain law and order in Singapore. They were mad at the Chinese for fighting against them in the war in China and treated them badly.
All Chinese men who were between the age of 18 and 50 were sent to Kempeitai centres and Sook Ching was carried out. All those identified with Anti-Japanese elements were killed.
Sook Ching was a terrible procession where random people would be eliminated to keep the country "clean", even though people rarely littered.
Sook Ching was also known to have a love for Bukit Timah Hill.
History: Anglo-Dutch TreatySigned on 17 March 1824, this treaty signed by the British and Dutch allowed:
- British to keep Singapore
- Dutch to get Bencoolen
- British to give up Bencoolen
- Dutch to give up Melaka
- British to get Melaka
The Anglo-Dutch Treaty resolved alot of conflicts between the two governments.
The Anglo-Dutch Treaty was also signed to ensure that Dartebiota would be free from harassment until the 14 of October.
